THE STASHIE STORY
I was born in Jamaica in 1975; the same year Peter Tosh recorded Legalize It. Although ganja is a massive part of Jamaican culture, the plant didn’t really touch my life in a significant way. My parents never used it and, although I never turned down the joints passed around at parties, I was never really into it – it made me sleep.
Fast forward to my 40s… two kids, self-employed and sleepless. I tried the yoga, the meditation, the sleep apps. Nothing worked. I was grumpy, irritable and spiralling.

A friend suggested I use cannabis to sleep, and it was as if a light bulb went off…it used to make me sleep at parties. And so began my journey. For a while I relied on friends to give me weed, and then I checked out a dispensary called 1066 in my hometown, Toronto.
That dispensary changed my life. That sounds dramatic, right? Changed my life? Ok, well the existence of that dispensary changed my life. The people who worked there changed my life. The staff at 1066 guided me on a journey…recommending strains…explaining the lingo…listening and answering my endless stream of questions. I could sleep again.
"A mystical, powerful, magical plant, (and a bunch of people who understood and believed in it) changed my life."

The experience of experimenting with cannabis is where the idea for Stashie came from. A nasty by-product of the industry is all the plastic cannabis comes in. I was using sticky notes, tape and shipping labels to keep track of my strains and label my jars. At one point I had 16 strains I was trying, and 16 plastic bags with scribbled handwriting. So annoying!

It was unbelievable to me that no one had developed a consumer-focused, cannabis-specific label that was beautiful and practical. No one…until now.
Wherever your cannabis journey takes you, I hope that it’s ultimately to good places. And I hope you think the labels I’ve created are as useful and beautiful as the plant itself.
